what. a weaving loom placed in a playful context

why. When you play, there are no rules. You are free. You can do anything simply because you want to do it, not because you have to do it. This privilege we give to our children, but it is something we should give to ourselves too.

how. Weaving is an act to deliver end products. You can imagine the big halls of weaving factories in Asia. The process of weaving is not meant to be fun. The work is efficient, fast and productive, I wanted to place weaving in an opposite context. My process started with weaving on playgrounds. Here I discovered the upside-down U-shape. After that I interviewed a class of 6th-graders about their playfulness and together we tried a weaving game in their sports hall. The design of a swinging loom I based on the children's drawings.
